Jet Li, whose real name is Li Lianjie, is a Chinese film actor, producer, martial artist, and retired Wushu champion.

Jet Li was born on April 26, 1963, in Beijing, China. He began practicing Wushu (Chinese martial arts) at a young age and won several championships in the sport.

Jet Li became a national champion in Wushu at the age of 12. He was a member of the Beijing Wushu Team and gained fame for his acrobatic and highly skilled performances.

Jet Li's transition to film began with his role in "Shaolin Temple" (1982), which became a massive success. He went on to star in a series of successful martial arts films in China.

Jet Li gained international recognition with roles in films like "Once Upon a Time in China" series (1991–1997) and "Fist of Legend" (1994). His Hollywood breakthrough came with "Lethal Weapon 4" (1998) and "Romeo Must Die" (2000).

Jet Li has been featured in numerous martial arts and action films, including "Hero" (2002), "Fearless" (2006), "The Forbidden Kingdom" (2008), and "The Expendables" series.

Jet Li is regarded as a global ambassador for Wushu and Chinese martial arts. He has worked to promote martial arts worldwide and has been involved in various philanthropic activities.

In 2013, Jet Li revealed that he was dealing with health issues, including hyperthyroidism and spinal problems. He subsequently took a step back from acting and announced his retirement from martial arts films.

While he announced his retirement from martial arts films, Jet Li has made occasional comebacks in different film genres, such as the fantasy film "League of Gods" (2016) and Disney's live-action adaptation of "Mulan" (2020).
